In these heady days of
exploding clinical and medical
aesthetics you must be relied
upon as the intermediary,
as the wise mentor who can
guide, prepare and, post-
treatment, protect and improve.

This edition is packed with information
on how to do just that. Add some new
technology and market it hard to make
it pay for itself while the demand is hot.
Think ahead and introduce what you can
now while you are all busy but know what
your next stage will be in the new year
when things quieten down.
Service your clients now with quick fixes
and enhancers and prep them while they
are excited for what you can do for them
next after the silly season departs and their
thoughts are on repair again.
When you have a client captive set
them up for the next quarter’s activities
– get them planning ahead to solve that
nagging issue or move forward on a long
And know your ‘stuff ’! In both clinical
aesthetics and wellness you must be a
know-it-all. You must be the fountain
of knowledge on latest techniques and
methodologies, not just those you can
HOW OFTEN IN my many years of writing
my columns have I started with ‘I’m
excited..’, or ‘...it’s exciting times in our
industr y...' I wonder? I just thought about
that as I was about to write, yet again, ‘such
exciting times ahead...’.
How lucky are we to be in an industry
that regularly can claim to be ‘exciting’,
that continuously is in the process of
reinventing itself. An industry that is so
linked to people’s ever yday needs that as
those people’s needs change, we simply
(well sometimes it’s simply!) change along
with them, reinventing our offer as we go.
So many ser vice sectors get left behind
as market demands change. As long as we
are watching and listening and constantly
adapting we will never be left behind.
We will always have a role in helping
to beautify, correct, enhance and help
maintain or reinstate wellness, in so many
At SPA+CLINIC our passion is running
ahead of you, alongside you and behind
you – alerting you to what is up ahead,
informing you on the nuances and details
as you go and bringing up the rear to help
trouble shoot and problem- solve. We love
our role – its exciting!
Unfortunately, I didn’t end up attending
the Global Spa and Wellness Summit in
Morocco this year but I am already deeply
inspired by the information now flowing
from that vitally important annual think-
I have only scratched the surface of the
data so far but we will be sharing with you
all of the statistics and insights that have
emerged through the coming newsletters
and next couple of magazine editions.
In this edition on Page 21 we
announce the very exciting launch of
the Global Wellness Day in June 2015 – a
great marketing opportunity for all our
businesses - and the release of the SRI
Global Spa and Wellness Economy Monitor
Report on Page 22. Look for a lot more
information on the results of that report in
our next edition.
We cover the Hot Springs Forum on
Page 10 and bring you the hot take-aways
that emerged at the Summit on Page 30.
Some ver y insightful information in there –
a must-read for future planning.
EXCITING TIMES AHEAD – AGAIN. OR IS IT – STILL!
In next edition we will also be bringing
you the news from the Australasian Spa
Association (ASpa) Conference – which,
as you will read on Page 24, will in future
be known as the Australasian Spa and
Wellness A ssociation.
GETTING READY FOR
SUMMER AND BEYOND
As we move into the busy season, all
our thoughts and hands-on -deck are
making the most of the opportunity
to enhance bodies and faces that of
clients who want to look their best in
ever y selfie and smile-for-the-camera
perform but those you can't as well, you
have to be informed enough to comment
and refer. In these heady days of exploding
clinical and medical aesthetics you must
be relied upon as the intermediary, as the
wise mentor who can guide, prepare and,
post-treatment, protect and improve. This
role is one of your security keys for long-
term client loyalty and business longevity.
Make the most of it!
Well that’s enough telling you what to do
from me! Have a brilliant, profitable season
and see you in the new year.
