SISTERS DOING IT FOR
WHATEVER THE trials and tribulations
of running a business or forging a career,
many of us in Australia have it pretty
good, with ready access to education and
opportunities to further quality of life.
Soroptimist International (SI) is a
dynamic organisation for professional and
business women to advance human rights
for those less privileged. It inspires action
and creates opportunities to transform
the lives of women, girls and families
through a global network of members and
Maureen Bartlett, CEO of Encore
Beauty – distributor in Australia of Serge
Louis Alvarez makeup – is one such
woman who has thrown her influence
and resources behind SI as President
Elect of the Hawkesbury (NSW) Club and
Conference Chair for the 2016 South West
Pacific Federation Conference in Sydney.
“ SI has become another of
my passions,” says the successful
businesswoman, mother and grandmother,
who also runs self esteem workshops for
women and teens through Encore Beauty.
“ We launched a new skincare range in
October, Christian Breton from France, via
a beautiful gift box. From the sale of each
box, Encore Beauty will donate $50 to the
See Solar Cook Solar project, providing
solar panels to villages with no access to
power in Fiji and Zambia.”
`Soroptimist' originated from two
Latin words: “soror” meaning sister and
“optima” meaning best. Members work at
all levels of civil society - local, national
and international – and are involved with a
wide spectrum of women’s concerns.
SI Australia is part of the South West
Pacific (SISWP) Federation; the others are
the Americas, Europe, and Great Britain
“Building a reputation as a responsible
business by supporting an organisation
such as Soroptimists sets you apart from
your competitors,” says Maureen.
“By becoming an SISWP Conference
2016 sponsor, there will also be many
opportunities to highlight your brand to
more than 83,000 worldwide SI members,
as sponsors will be heavily promoted before
and during the event.
“The conference will generate
significant media coverage locally and
internationally which also gives sponsors
the chance everage their brand from the
publicity it attracts.”

“ What we love the
most about it is that
Australia, with its harsh env ironment, truly
puts all skincare products to the test.
“The Australian Men’s Health Awards is
local recognition of the quality of Lqd.”
The awards come hot on the heels of
Lqd’s partnership with SG Cosmetics, one
of the largest cosmetic distributors in Asia.
“Our decision [to partner with SG
Cosmetics] was not based purely on shifting
volume,” says A nthony.
“ We needed a distributor

our brand and to retain

Anthony expects this trend will
continue for at least the next three years.
